Fredric Wertham Documentary Now Available for Download Purchase and DVD Preorder

Sequart Organization is proud to announce that the Fredric Wertham documentary Diagram for Delinquents, directed by Robert A. Emmons, Jr., is now available for download purchase and DVD preorder.
In 1950, America was in a state of panic. Juvenile delinquency was destroying the very fabric of society. Ninety percent of all children were reading comic books. In 1954, psychiatrist Dr. Fredric Wertham wrote a scathing indictment of comics called Seduction of the Innocent. Its central premise: Comic books were the leading contributing factor to juvenile delinquency. That same year, Dr. Wertham testified at special hearings on comic books at the Senate Subcommittee to Investigate Juvenile Delinquency in the United States. Comic books were on trial!
Diagram for Delinquents captures the zeitgeist of late 1940s and early 1950s America and investigates how the funny books found themselves on the fire. Using expert and comic book insider interviews, never seen before historical photographs and films, and animation, Diagram goes further than any previous comic book documentary to explore and understand the controversial figure at the center of this American tale: Fredric Wertham.
The movie is currently available for purchase as a download from the Sequart store, including a version with over an hour of bonus material. About the Director: Robert A. Emmons, Jr. is a documentary filmmaker focusing on American popular culture and history. His films include Enthusiast: The 9th Art, Wolf at the Door, Yardsale!, Goodwill: The Flight of Emilio Carranza, and De Luxe: The Tale of Blue Comet. Goodwill was screened as part of the Smithsonian exhibition "Our Journeys / Our Stories: Portraits of Latino Achievement." It also won Best Homegrown Documentary Feature at the 2008 Garden State Film Festival, and it led to him receiving Mexico's Lindbergh-Carranza International Goodwill Award as a "Messenger of Peace."

Grant Morrison’s BATMAN Run Subject of New Sequart Book

Grant Morrison has made a career of redefining heroes, but his work with Batman has been the most comprehensive. From Arkham Asylum and JLA to his recent seven-year run on the Batman titles, Morrison has redefined and reworked the Caped Crusader from the ground up. He's also introduced new characters (such as Damian Wayne) and new concepts (such as Batman, Inc.).
The Anatomy of Zur-En-Arrh looks at how Morrison's run understands and reinterprets Batman's long history. Also, an exclusive interview with Morrison rounds out the book.

Chris Claremont Documentary Officially Released, Now on Vimeo & DVD

Sequart Organization and Respect Films are proud to announce that our Chris Claremont X-Men documentary is now officially released, including on Vimeo and DVD.
Comics in Focus: Chris Claremont's X-Men offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how a single comic book title was transformed into the biggest franchise in comic book history, thanks largely to the efforts of one writer, Chris Claremont. Amongst interviews with comics luminaries, the critically-acclaimed documentary details the genesis of iconic stories like "The Phoenix Saga" and "Days of Future Past", as well as the struggles to maintain artistic freedom in the face of increasing commercial success, to the point that after writing X-Men stories for 17 years, Claremont was forced off the book. This is the story of the X-Men, told by the people who made it happen, but also the story of how Marvel changed from an upstart comic book company to the corporate behemoth it is today. With all the hype about the imminent release of the X-Men: Days of Future Past movie, now is the perfect time to look back on the writer who made it all possible.
